DJM-A9 + CDJ-3000X – ON AIR Display Issue
Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a very strange issue with my new setup and I'm wondering if anyone has seen this before.
My setup:
- DJM-A9 (firmware 1.22)
- 2 × CDJ-3000X (latest firmware 1.40)
- Netgear GS305 switch
- PRO DJ LINK
- Digital audio connections
The problem
When my CDJs are connected to channels 1 and 2, everything works perfectly.
However, when I move the exact same players to channels 2 and 3, the ON AIR Display no longer works correctly.
For example:
- Raising channel 2 activates the wrong player's ON AIR indication.
- Channel 3 does not trigger the ON AIR indication at all.
- Audio works perfectly on every channel. The problem affects only the ON AIR Display.
Things I've already tried
- Updated DJM-A9 to firmware 1.22
- Updated both CDJ-3000X to firmware 1.40
- Factory reset of the DJM-A9
- ON AIR Display = ON on both CDJs
- Manually assigned Player 1 and Player 2
- Tested with and without USB drives and SD cards
- Tested different Ethernet cables
- Tested different digital cables
- Tested different player/channel combinations
- Restarted the complete system multiple times
- Netgear GS305 switch
- Crossfader Assign = THRU
- Inputs set correctly to DIGITAL
Nothing changes.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
Can anyone with a DJM-A9 + CDJ-3000X setup test whether ON AIR Display works correctly when the players are connected to channels 2 and 3 (instead of 1 and 2)?
I'd really appreciate any feedback before sending the mixer for service.
Thanks!

Hi there,
If you change the players to channels 2 & 3, your assigned player numbers should reflect that too.
Can you check this and verify ?
Hello, I did the following: after turning on the CDJs, I manually changed their numbers to 2 and 3, and now everything works as it should. I restarted the CDJs, and the assignments were retained. Thank you! :)
