CDJ-3000X: Pro DJ Link (Export Mode) via Built-in Wi-Fi vs. Wired LAN

Hi everyone,

I am trying to determine if the CDJ-3000X supports local Rekordbox Link (Export Mode) strictly over its built-in Wi-Fi connection, or if a hardwired Ethernet connection to the router is mandatory for this feature.

My Setup:

• Computer: Mac Studio (running Rekordbox 7, connected to home network via Ethernet).

• Hardware: 2x CDJ-3000X + DJM-A9.

• Connection: The players and mixer are linked via a dedicated Ethernet switch.

The Scenario: My Mac Studio is in a different room, so I cannot run a direct USB or Ethernet cable to the DJ console easily. I am attempting to bridge the connection using the CDJ's built-in Wi-Fi.

1. Wi-Fi Connection: Both players are connected to my home Wi-Fi and successfully receiving local IP addresses from the router.

2. Ethernet Status: When the switch is not connected to the router, the players assign themselves self-assigned IPs (169.254.x.x) on the wired LAN interface, which is expected behavior for an isolated switch.

3. The Issue: In this state (Players on Wi-Fi, Computer on LAN), the LINK button does not appear in Rekordbox.

The Workaround: If I run a long Ethernet cable from my router to the switch, the players receive proper local IPs on the wired interface, and Link works immediately.

My Question: Is the built-in Wi-Fi on the 3000X restricted to CloudDirectPlay/Streaming, or should it be able to handle local Pro DJ Link database traffic? It seems redundant to require a hardwired run when the units are already successfully on the same network subnet via Wi-Fi.

Has anyone successfully established a stable Link connection using the player's internal Wi-Fi, or is the Ethernet uplink required by design?
